Strategic Management Solutions, LLC Leadership Announcement May 1, 2023
Albuquerque, New Mexico – To sustain growth and meet future challenges, Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) is restructuring our leadership team effective May 1, 2023. Lee Bernstein will become Chairman of the Board. David O’Flynn will become our new CEO, and Matthew Nuckols will become SMSI President.
Lee Bernstein has over 45 years of experience in all facets of project management, engineering, and construction. He started SMSI in 1999 and has been a proactive leader who maintains a high level of client and corporate satisfaction. Lee is published, has provided expert testimony, and lectured on program management. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.
Mr. O’Flynn has over 35 years of diverse experience in leadership positions, project management, design, and construction, with emphasis in nuclear and high technology projects. David has successfully established and managed multidiscipline project teams in multiple locations and offices with full profit and loss responsibility and has led SMSI’s growth. He joined SMSI in 2003 and assumed the President role in 2019. David holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Tulane University, an M.B.A. from Virginia Tech, and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
Mr. Nuckols has more than 30 years of experience in project and program management, operations, engineering, and construction. Prior to joining SMSI, Matthew held various leadership roles for Management and Operations contractors for the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration and on commercial projects for mining and metals, telecommunications, and infrastructure. Known for building and leading high-performance teams, he skillfully manages programs and projects with complex customer requirements. In addition, Matthew has been responsible for leading integration of capital project execution with ongoing high-hazard facility operations and critical mission work at multiple DOE sites. Matthew earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University.
