SMSI ROLE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

SMSI led the formation of Veterans Contractor Group, JV LLC, (VCG) and is an integral part of this construction joint venture. VCG is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that won a Multiple Award Tack Order Contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, to construct civil work projects in southern Louisiana primarily related to flood control and hurricane risk reduction. Work involves heavy construction work for levees, floodwalls, pump stations construction or enlargement, roads, culvers & U-Frame canal work, concrete bridge work, earthen channel enlargement and concrete lining, concrete or stone armoring, forshore protection, and other elements. Work is be performed through individual task orders.

SMSI structured VCG JV, which includes two Southeastern Louisiana firms (one of which is the qualifying SDVOSB member), prepared the initial proposal, prepared task bids, organized bonding requirements, and attracted two other local and successful construction firms to support the team. We support bid and proposal development and project execution.

Since 2013, VCG has been awarded 3 tasks orders:

  • SELA-09A, Harahan Pump to the River Intake, $10.7M
  • OFC-08, Stability Remediation Outfall Canal (17th Street), $4.3M
  • NOV-NF-06b.4, Pre-Load at Structures Tie-ins, $3.2M

All work has proceeded on schedule, within budget, and safely, and with high marks from the USACE.
